"A landscape in a glass, shaped by clay and guided by restraint"

Twenty kilometres east of Saint Émilion, where the Bordeaux vineyards soften into open countryside, Château Marsau rests within a quiet mosaic of meadow, woodland, and vine.

Of its 25 hectares, only 10 are devoted to viticulture — a rare island of clay where Merlot stands alone. On this singular terroir, clay is the voice. It shapes the vine, deepens the roots, and gives the wine its density, tension, and mineral pulse.

Guided by Anne Laurence Chadronnier, Marsau is farmed with attentive restraint. Certified organic since 2021, the vineyard follows no till practices and permanent covercrops, encouraging balance and vitality within the ecosystem.

The philosophy is simple: observe, accompany, and allow the site to speak. In the cellar, intervention remains gentle. Soft extraction and ageing in large oak foudres preserve the wine’s natural energy and purity. The result is Merlot of silk and light — floral, vibrant, edged with graphite and carried by a subtle saline thread that recalls the depth of its clay soils. Château Marsau is less a style than a landscape translated into wine; an authentic expression of place, shaped by earth, guided by patience.
