"Rooted in history, crafted with purity"

Domaine du Gour de Chaulé is a historic family estate located in Gigondas, in the Southern Rhône Valley. Founded in 1900 by Eugène Bonfils, the domaine has been passed down through four generations, with a unique legacy shaped by generations of women winemakers. Today, it is led by Paul Fumoso, who joined his mother, Stéphanie Fumoso, at the estate in 2018. Paul continues the family tradition with a deep respect for the land and a commitment to organic farming, working exclusively with certified organic vineyards.

The estate covers 10 hectares divided into more than 20 parcels across Gigondas, showcasing the region’s diverse terroirs. The vineyards are predominantly planted with Grenache, which represents 85% of the surface, complemented by Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault. Many of the vines are over 55 years old, with some dating back to the early 20th century, resulting in naturally low yields and intense concentration.

Paul’s winemaking is guided by a philosophy of minimal intervention and tradition. He works with whole-cluster fermentations and avoids aggressive extraction, aiming to highlight elegance, finesse, and the purity of Grenache. His wines have received growing critical acclaim, with respected wine merchants such as Vine Trail praising his single-vineyard Gigondas “Le Gour” as one of the finest reds from the Southern Rhône. Paul’s work reflects both his family’s heritage and a new generation’s sensibility, producing wines that are soulful, balanced, and unmistakably tied to place.
